So a week ago I translated Rebecca Black’s infamous song “Friday” into Mandarin Chinese and uploaded my version of it to YouTube. Never did I imagine it would be watched by so many people and I have all of you to thank for that!  Even British tabloid Daily Mail wrote a positive article about it which I thought was pretty crazy!

Yes, I know. A picture of me and Rebecca Black is certainly not the first thing that comes to mind. But because of you guys the video racked up over 100,000 views while garnering a view YouTube honors in less than 2 days!

I’ve also received comments that people are using the video in Chinese class as an education tool .  It seems pretty crazy to me but I’m glad that something I found amusing, is also amusing a lot of other people, too:). The college tour continues this weekend! I’ll be performing at Princeton’s Asian Night Market this Friday (word on the street is that Wong Fu Productions will be there), and then at Northwestern (my alma mater!) for the ITASA Midwest Conference.

Can’t wait to meet you all!

In a few hours I’m gonna take the ‘A’ train to Harlem and put myself infront of the famous Apollo crowd. I know some of you think I’m crazy but I’ve been wanting to get up on the Apollo stage ever since I first saw Kiki Shepard host the show after SNL back in the day.

Thank you guys for supporting me through each step of my journey whether its the college tour or competitions like these. I promise to make you all proud! Wish me luck! I’ll have a posting as soon as I can!

Next month I’ll be performing at the legendary APOLLO theater!! The Apollo’s where Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 got their start, and where Lauryn Hill famously got booed at 13, only to revinvent the soul/R&B/hip hop sound a few years later!

I used to watch Showtime at the Apollo late at night after SNL. I never thought I’d have a chance to perform in front of the famous crowd. That alone is a dream come true for me. So if you’re in New York, come to the show and root for me!
